STARS Community Partners

Community BusinessThe STARS program is a public-private partnership created and led by the Child Development Division of the Vermont Department for Children & Families. The partnership recognizes the essential role played by the STARS program and national accreditation in improving the quality of child care, preschool and afterschool programs in our communities. Building Bright Futures and IBM provide private statewide community support for the STARS program through monetary funding and other donations.

The Child Care Fund of Vermont, a STARS partner since the program’s inception through 2007, provided incentive payments for 1-, 2-, and 3-star providers while the Child Development Division provided incentive payments for 4- and 5-star providers. As of 2008, Building Bright Futures will provide the support initially provided by the Child Care Fund of Vermont. IBM joined the STARS public-private partnership in 2005 and donates Young Explorer Computer Learning Centers to eligible providers.
